通用汽车中途退场，项目一度搁浅。特斯拉随后入局接手重塑，把这个差点废弃的厂区，拉成了全美极少数拥有电网级储能电池本土供应链的制造基地。

厂区已有900名工人上岗，满产后提供1700个制造业岗位，其中90%直接招募自密歇根当地。

内政部长道格·伯格姆（Doug Burgum）在现场算得很清楚：风能和太阳能最大的痛点就是忽高忽低，白天发的电存进这些本土大电池，晚上高峰期顶上，电网才能真正稳住。
